Research Assistant • THE POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED

A three-year funded Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Assistant Professor Guillaume Thibault, School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The main role of this position is to create and validate a synthetic biology platform in yeast with a collaborative laboratory in China. The project will also include in vitro experiments in human cells to validate the cellular stress response pathways first tested in yeast.
Responsibilities
Be in-charge of a collaborative project with a well-established laboratory in China
Responsible for presenting experimental results to the collaborative team in China
Responsible for conducting experiments to meet tight deadlines and deliver results for the aims of the study
Maintain inventory of consumables needed for the project
Requirements
Possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or equivalent
Relevant experience in yeast, immunoblot, confocal microscopy, qPCR will be advantageous
Good planning, presentation, and organisational skills
Must be resourceful, proactive, with a good working attitude
Must be able to work independently as well as in a group

Research Fellow • THE POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED

A three-year postdoctoral fellow position is available as of December 3rd 2018 in the laboratory of Dr Guillaume Thibault, School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The focus of the study will be to characterize the anti-aging role of the unfolded protein response from high glucose diet. This is a follow up of our current manuscript (see preprint in bioRxiv doi.org/10.1101/347435).
Creative and enthusiastic recent Ph.D. graduate with a strong background in one of the following areas: imaging and image analysis, genetics, lifespan assay, biochemistry, molecular cellular biology or computational biology. The position requires highly-motivated person who is able to work independently. First-hand experience working with C. elegans, cell culture, and analyzing large data set (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, proteomic) will be a plus.
At least one first-author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal is required to be considered for the position.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with an international and multidisciplinary team of investigators.
Candidate should have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field.
Preference will be given to those with laboratory experience. Qualified applicants should send their CV, short statement of research interest, and at least two letters of recommendation.
